Cathy Stewart Biography

Cathy founded Cathy Stewart Associates as an independent coaching consultancy supporting the business community to achieve more value through their resources. With 25 years’ experience as a chartered architect and project director leading multi-disciplined design teams for large international practices, Cathy has become fascinated by what makes an effective team. Her experience has furnished her with a privileged view of how teams perform. Cathy is passionate about enabling everyone at every stage in their career to excel. Her natural, friendly and supportive style encourages her clients to explore their full potential and recognise their value. Empowering individuals to take control of their goals makes for an effective member of the team and leader.

Cathy is a progressive, personal and effective professional Business Coach who believes that coaching is ‘All about YOU – the coachee!' She specialises in One to One coaching for women in traditionally male dominated industries (particularly Property and Construction) enabling them to reach their full potential in the workplace

Client; Career development/career success:

Cathy is a coaching consultant on a supply chain for a large port operator. Appointed for her particular skills for promoting women in the workplace, she was commissioned to work with female employees to explore appropriate roles and responsibilities in order to achieve their full potential and maximum value to the business from their point of view. It involved coaching on self-belief and confidence building to enable them to step up to a more senior strategic role and be more pro-active in the operational efficiency of the department. After determining the organogram for the department and their own job description my clients then presented their thoughts to the directors. This proposal was factored into the restructuring of the business and now being implemented.

Cathy is regularly commissioned by individual clients to explore their career including potential career, new positions and job moves. This includes focussing on what the new role might be and exercises in preparation for the interview. Cathy helps her coachees explore how to identify and achieve the job of their dreams. This also means developing their PDP’s (Personal Development Plan). One particular client wanted to discuss her road to promotion to Director. On completion she resolved to introduce new reporting procedures and produced monthly information bulletins to the directors which demonstrates her understanding of running the business and has been well received by the board. She requested a regular quarterly session which rapidly evolved into a monthly session to ‘keep her on track and motivated’.
