JGA's Spring Conference – fresh ideas for EO change and growth

How can we provide an even better value service for our clients as the EO sector evolves and grows? This was one of the hot topics at JGA’s latest Employee Conference in Burford – our first full employee get-together of 2023.

As ‘people people’, Team JGA always feels extra creative when we meet in person so our Associates made the most of being together by sharing ideas and honing their knowledge of the latest developments in JGA’s transition, people and governance support.

Front of mind was how we can continue to provide an impactful service while being even more efficient in today’s economic climate. Cue some innovative thinking from the team…

Supporting effective change

It was a packed 24 hours, with Lead Associate Philippa Meaden dialling in from Lincolnshire to take the team through the latest developments in our succession planning and EO transition support offer, including how JGA works alongside the Employee Ownership Assocation in areas such as EO Learn.

Coaching Lead Corrine Thomas shared the positive feedback to our refreshed Coaching through Change offer, which supports senior teams to lead themselves and others effectively through transition, upheaval and change.

The conference also included a constructive session on JGA’s future direction, including the capabilities we’ll need as we continue on our own journey to becoming employee-owned.

Exploring new ideas to grow EO

‘It was wonderful, as always, to get together with the JGA Associate Employees and celebrate another year of successfully supporting clients to transition and leverage the benefits of EO,’ says our MD Jeremy Gadd.

‘I particularly enjoyed being able to deep-dive the latest developments in the succession planning support we offer and look at how we can share our insights more widely with those looking to transition into EO. It was also an invaluable opportunity to focus on our plans to grow the business and continue to provide the services that our clients value and require.’

Learning from each other’s perspective

So what did the rest of the team value most about being together? For Associate Kathie Robb, it was the mix of business and social.

‘The two days were very engaging, with the opportunity to better understand developments in our transition support and to co-create some spin-off sessions which focus on more specific elements of our offer,’ she explains.

‘I also enjoyed the opportunity to re-connect with my lovely JGA colleagues and the ‘treat’ of a beautiful hotel and delicious dinner, which allowed us to relax and have some informal (and hugely useful) catch-up time. I always enjoy our JGA conferences, and this one was no exception!’

Corrine agrees, describing the conference as both inspiring and fun. ‘It was great to reflect on what JGA has achieved so far and be part of planning for our future. I came away feeling much better equipped to speak to potential clients about our services – the preview of our latest developments really helped with this.’

Understanding the commercial and people potential of EO

‘It’s no secret how much I love a JGA get-together,’ concludes Katy Perceval, our Comms and Marketing Support.

‘It’s not just the chance to spend time away with such fantastic people who genuinely ‘get’ the commercial and people aspects of becoming EO. It’s that I learn from others while being able to contribute my own ideas around how we can help our business to go where it wants to go.

‘Naturally, I also like that Lisa and I get fresh pictures of the team working – and this time Lisa was even more creative than usual with our first ever JGA Employee Conference film! Who we are as people is part of what makes us different and this really helps to bring the JGA personality to life.’
